WE REGRET TO ADVISE THIS CONFERENCE HAS BEEN CANCELLED

Cancellation of the WA Rural Health Weekend - 26 to 27 March 2022

Each year Rural Health West (RHW) and the WA Country Health Service (WACHS) partner to deliver the WA Rural Health Weekend, which incorporates the;

  • WA Rural Health Conference
  • Rural Paediatrics Forum
  • WA Rural Health Excellence Awards
  • WA Rural Health  Long Service Awards
  • Pre-conference workshops

These events are particularly important in recognising and celebrating the critical role health professionals play in supporting the well-being of rural communities across Western Australia.

You will be aware that the next few months are critical for Western Australia’s health system as it prepares for increasing rates of COVID-19 infections across the State. During this time, it will be critical to limit the opportunity for COVID-19 to spread to country communities and also to reduce potential exposure of our rural health professionals to infection.

With these factors in mind, RHW and WACHS have determined that the WA Rural Health Conference and associated events, including the two WA Rural Health Awards events and pre-conference workshops, should not proceed as planned in March 2022.

While the conference will not go ahead in 2022, we are investigating options to host the WA Rural Health Excellence and Long Service Awards later in the year. Further decisions are to be made in regards to rescheduling the pre-conference workshops and the Rural Paediatrics Forum.

While this is a disappointing outcome for all of us, part of the broader health sector’s planning for the COVID-19 outbreak has involved making sure the right people, protocols and processes are in place to continue delivering high-quality health services across rural WA.

Further correspondence relating to refunds and flight and accommodation bookings related to the WA Rural Health Weekend will be sent out shortly by Rural Health West.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your efforts to protect rural  communities during this challenging time.

Yours sincerely,
