Join us for a unique island experience - the beautiful Mackerel Islands.

The days will be a mix of educational components and relaxation. Enjoy snorkeling, swimming and fishing whilst learning how to deal with emergency situations, develop your practical skills and professional abilities. At night, socialise with dinner under the stars with fellow participants. This is an opportunity to have an off the beaten track experience that is not to be missed.  

About the event
The weekend provides participants with the opportunity to learn about the management of medical emergencies in a remote environment with limitation in equipment, personnel and resources:

  • Participants will learn in a supportive environment that encourages a relevant, practical and self-directed approach to learning.
  • Participants will develop their practical skills and professional abilities such as teaching, teamwork, leadership and dealing with stress and uncertainty.
  • Participants will have the opportunity to network with colleagues in a unique setting.

Who should attend?
Early career health professionals who live and work in the Pilbara, are under 30 years old or have fewer than five years of clinical experience are invited to attend the event, including:

  • Medical practitioners including students
  • Nurse practitioners and midwifes including students
  • Allied health professionals including students 
The weekend will be facilitated by a team of experienced emergency physicians who have worked in rural and remote regions.
