Travel

Rural Health West will provide the following travel support for currently practising health professionals who work and live in rural and remote Western Australia:

  • General / Medical practitioners and medical officers
  • Medical registrars
  • Nurses and Midwives
  • Allied health professionals and
  • Aboriginal health practitioners/workers

This travel support is for the health professional and one immediate family member (partner or child) who work and live in rural and remote Western Australia. The following travel support will be provided:

  • a fuel reimbursement; or
  • Allocated air travel amount based on region for delegate and partner/child
If you are a health professional who is driving to Perth for the conference, you are eligible for a reimbursement for your fuel expenses (up to the maximum travel allowance listed above) to and from Perth to your home town.

Please note
In the case of an eligible delegate couple who both practise and register to attend the full conference, allocated air travel amount based on region for up to two children will be considered.*
*Approval needs to be sought from Rural Health West prior to booking children's flights.

Please note
Full attendance at the conference is a condition of payment of flights and travel reimbursement by Rural Health West. If you are not in attendance for the full conference program, you will be charged for the cost of your travel. Tickets booked prior to full registration payment being received by Rural Health West will not be authorised.

Flights

After registering for the conference, eligible health professionals can book their preferred flights, and submit a claim form for reimbursement up to the travel allowance for your region, as per the table above.

Reimbursement Form will need to be completed and emailed to the Events Team at Rural Health West by Friday 7 April 2023.

Alternatively, flights can be booked through Corporate Traveller. Should the cost of the airfare exceed the flat rate travel allowance for your region (as per table above), Corporate Traveller will request payment from you for the difference at the time of booking.

After registering for the conference, please contact Corporate Traveller as soon as possible to book your flights by emailing rebekka.walker@corporatetraveller.com.au with the information below. Corporate Traveller can be contacted via telephone on 08 6466 5180.

  • Preferred dates and times of travel
  • Contact numbers – ideally a mobile and a landline
  • Frequent flyer number/s
  • Any other requirements you have

Tickets will be booked as per your request and ticketing will take place after details have been confirmed with you. If you have further queries, Corporate Traveller can be contacted via telephone on 08 6466 5180 or 08 6166 5186.

Fees for changes to tickets are not reimbursable by Rural Health West. Should you wish to travel to or from Perth outside of the specified conference dates, your fare can still be covered on the condition no additional expense to the organisation is incurred.

Fuel reimbursement

If you are a health professional who is driving to Perth for the conference, you are eligible for a reimbursement for your fuel expenses (up to the maximum travel allowance listed above) to and from Perth to your home town.

Reimbursement Form will need to be completed and emailed to the Events Team at Rural Health West by Friday 7 April 2023. Please ensure that original tax invoices are provided when submitting your claim. EFTPOS receipts will not be accepted.

Parking*

The closest parking is the City of Perth Convention Centre Car Park located directly under the Centre.

Access: via Mill St, Mounts Bay Rd, or the Riverside Dr off-ramp from Mitchell Freeway.

Rates are as follows:
Hourly rate: $6.00 per hour
Day rate (6am to 5.59pm): $23.00
Night rate (6pm to 5.59am): $5.00

Public transport

Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre is easily accessible by foot, ride-share or public transport including bus, train or ferry from South Perth.

Positioned adjacent to the Swan River, Elizabeth Quay train station and bus port or 10 minutes to Perth Underground train station.

Perth’s Central Area Transit (CAT) free bus services operate throughout the CBD and city fringes. For more information about Perth's public transport please visit the Transperth website. 

Non-reimbursable items

Rural Health West is unable to reimburse the following items:

  • Flight changes
  • Accommodation and all related expenses (accommodation rates have been negotiated with the conference venue)
  • Children’s travel unless approved by the Events Team
  • Taxi charges
  • Parking fees
  • Hire cars
  • Mileage allowance for private vehicles
  • Meals other than specified in the conference program
  • Conference registration fee
  • Family program and babysitting fees
