Kaya and welcome to the Aboriginal Health Conference 2024.
We are thrilled to host this unique gathering, bringing together individuals and communities from across Western Australia who are dedicated to improving health outcomes for our First Nations people.
This year's theme, Circling the Fire: Connecting, Celebrating, and Committing to Aboriginal Health, reflects our commitment to fostering meaningful connections, celebrating our shared achievements, and renewing our commitment to the health and well-being of First Nations communities.
Our conference promises to be an enriching experience, featuring a diverse line-up of speakers, the majority of whom are First Nations themselves. They will share their invaluable insights, stories, and expertise. Additionally, we will showcase innovative programs through a series of abstracts presented by passionate groups who are making a real difference in the field of Aboriginal health.
Beyond the presentations, we have planned a variety of hands-on activities designed to explore and strengthen our sense of connection and community. These activities will offer opportunities to engage with each other, share experiences, and build lasting relationships.
We invite you to join us in this important journey, to listen, learn, and contribute to the ongoing efforts to improve health outcomes for First Nations people. Together, we can make a profound impact and celebrate the richness of our cultures and the strength of our communities.
Thank you for being a part of this vital conversation. We look forward to welcoming you to the conference.

Kaya and welcome to the 2024 Aboriginal Health Conference.
WA Country Health Service is proud to partner with Rural Health West to deliver this important conference.
We all have a shared responsibility to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal people.
We must continue to strive to deliver healthcare in a way that does not compromise the culture, cultural legitimacy, rights, values and expectations of Aboriginal people.
Our work in this space is part of a continued journey. There is still more to do, and we’re determined to do more.
The theme of this year’s conference is Circling the Fire: Connecting, Celebrating, and Committing to Aboriginal Health.
The conference includes a comprehensive program of workshops, presentations and outstanding speakers covering five essential themes: chronic disease, culturally safe practice, sexual health, social and emotional wellbeing and health across all stages of life.
I encourage you to listen, learn, ask questions and strengthen your connections.
Thank you for joining us. And thank you for your continued efforts to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal people.
