Travel

Rural Health West will provide travel support for currently practising:   

  • GPs and medical practitioners
  • Nurse and midwives
  • Allied health workers and,
  • Aboriginal health practitioners/workers

Travel support is for the health professional and one immediate family member (partner or child) who work and live in rural and remote Western Australia. The following travel support will be provided by Rural Health West.

  • Fuel reimbursement; or
  • Allocated air travel amount based on region for delegate and partner
Please note
In the case of an eligible delegate couple who both practise and register to attend the full conference, allocated air travel amount based on region for up to two children* will be considered.
*Approval needs to be sought from Rural Health West prior to booking children's flights with Corporate Traveller.

Please note
Full attendance at the conference is a condition of payment of flights and travel reimbursement by Rural Health West. If you are not in attendance for the full conference program, you will be charged for the cost of your travel. Tickets booked prior to full registration payment being received by Rural Health West will not be authorised.

Flights

To qualify for flight travel support, eligible delegates must book all flights through Corporate Traveller. Should the cost of the airfare exceed the flat rate travel allowance for your region (as per table above), Corporate Traveller will request payment from you for the difference at the time of booking.

Fees for changes to tickets are not reimbursable by Rural Health West. Should you wish to travel to or from Perth outside of the specified conference dates, your fare can still be covered on condition no additional expense to the organisation is incurred.

After registering for the conference, please contact Corporate Traveller as soon as possible to book your flights by emailing kristie.cynthia@corporatetraveller.com.au with the information below. Corporate Traveller can be contacted via telephone on 08 6466 5180 or 08 6166 5186.

Fuel reimbursement

If you are a medical practitioner, nurse, midwife, allied health worker or Aboriginal health practitioner who is driving to Perth for the conference, you are eligible for a reimbursement for your fuel expenses (up to the maximum travel allowance listed above) to and from Perth to your home town.

Reimbursement Form will need to be completed and posted to the Events Team at Rural Health West by Friday 16 December 2022. Please ensure that original tax invoices are provided when submitting your claim. EFTPOS receipts will not be accepted.

Parking*

Self parking is available at the DRIVO Carpark located at 11 Essex Street, Fremantle. Esplanade Hotel guests receive a discounted Parking rate of $20 per night, subject to availability. Check in with the Esplanade's Concierge or Front desk team to confirm availability and pre-register your licence plate before heading over to the carpark.

Access: Take a left out of the hotel driveway. Turn right into the carpark approximately 50m from the hotel.

Secure Parking is located at 25 Collie Street, Fremantle. Payment is taken upon exit of the carpark – for the best rates we recommend pre-booking your parking here.

Public transport

The Esplanade Hotel Fremantle is easily accessible by foot, ride-share or public transport including bus and train.

Positioned in the heart of cosmopolitan Fremantle, the hotel is a 10 minute walk from the Fremantle train station and bus port.

Free CAT bus
Two free Central Area Transit (CAT) buses operate in the Fremantle area and are free to board for all passengers. The blue CAT Services depart every 10 minutes and the red CAT services depart every 15 minutes. Both services run 7 days a week. The services go to places of interest in the central Fremantle area, including the Fremantle Train Station, Fremantle Arts Centre, Fremantle Leisure Centre, the Maritime Museum, E-Shed Markets, the Cappuccino strip and the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour.

Non-reimbursable items

Rural Health West is unable to reimburse the following items:

  • Flight arrangements not booked through Corporate Traveller
  • Flight changes
  • Accommodation and all related expenses (accommodation rates have been negotiated with the conference venue)
  • Children’s travel unless approved by the Rural Health West Events Team
  • Taxi charges
  • Parking fees
  • Hire cars
  • Mileage allowance for private vehicles
  • Meals other than specified in the conference program
  • Conference registration fee
  • Family program and babysitting fees
