Themes and Topics

The Conference theme for 2025 is Breaking Barriers: Tackling Stigma and Promoting Mental Health Awareness in Rural Communities.

The theme addresses the stigma surrounding mental health in rural areas and explores strategies to promote awareness, understanding and help-seeking behaviours.  It focuses on advocacy, education and cultural change to normalise mental health conversations. it also highlights the importance of collaborative partnerships between health services, community groups and individuals to drive stigma reduction campaigns.

Keynote speakers and presenters have been invited to present on the following streams. 

  • Stigma reduction campaigns
    Collaborative approaches to challenging stigma and encouraging open dialogue in rural communities.
  • Mental health education
    Partnering with schools, workplaces and local organisation to enhance mental health literacy and reduce stigma.
  • Advocacy through lived experience
    Harnessing personal stories to inspire understanding and break down barriers.
  • Cultural sensitivity in awareness
    Tailoring anti-stigma efforts to diverse cultural groups, including First Nations communities.
  • Youth and mental health awareness
    Engaging young people as advocates and changemakers for mental health awareness in their communities.

Event Terms and Conditions

Cancellations

Cancellations received in writing to rrmhc@ruralhealthwest.com.au by 15 September 2025 will be accepted and all fees refunded, less an administration fee of $50.

Cancellations received after 15 September 2025 will not be refunded.

Changes to Details and Preferences

Changes to conference delegate registrations may be made up until 15 September 2025.  Changes can be made by emailing the event organisers on rrmhc@ruralhealthwest.com.au

After 15 September 2025, changes will not be possible.

Registration Transfer

Transfer of your registration to another person is permitted, so long as the details have been updated by 15 September 2025.  

Transfer of registrations will incur a $50.00 change fee.

Photography & Video

Photographs and videos may be taken by the organisers or photographers during the conference and used for reporting, showcasing and promotional purposes.

By registering for the conference, you understand that you might be photographed. 

Our photographer will make every effort to receive permission where possible, however this is not always practical for large group shots. 

If you do not wish to be photographed, please inform the photographer, who will ensure you are not captured.

Who can attend?

Everyone is welcome to attend the conference.  However, registration must be made for specific, named individuals.

We do not offer generic or placeholder registrations, as we require each attending delegate's details including their program preferences, dietary/accessibility requirements and contact details. Please ensure you know who will be attending and know their details before registering for the conference.

Can I share my registration?

No - each registration is for one person only and can't be shared or split between multiple people.

If you are unable to attend the whole event but would still like to register, you may purchase a single day registration or tickets to the social events.

How to do I register?

Registration is online through the conference website.

People who have difficulties with electronic forms should contact our organisers Rural Health West on 08 6389 4500, for individual assistance.

What are the payment options?

Payments must be made online via the electronic registration system. 

Places cannot be held without payment. 

This electronic payment system is used because it keeps administrative costs down and therefore minimises registration fees.  Those unable to pay online may request an invoice, for an administrative fee of $20 per invoice.

Is there travel support for this conference?

Travel and transport arrangements and any associated costs are the responsibility of the individual delegate, except where otherwise specifically agreed by WA Country Health Service (WACHS).

Delegates from outside of Busselton need to organise their own travel to and from Busselton and early bookings are advised. 

I need support to attend - what are my options?

Health Workforce Scholarship Program

You may be eligible for Health Workforce Scholarship Program funding to attend the RRMHC 2025.

The Health Workforce Scholarship Program (HWSP) provides scholarships and bursaries to help health professionals in remote and rural Australia retain and enhance their skills, capacity and scope of practice.

Scholarships or bursaries are available for medical, nursing/midwifery, dental, allied health and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers providing primary health care services in rural and remote Western Australia in private practice, an Aboriginal Medical Service (AMS), Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHO) or a non-government or not-for-profit organisation. You are not eligible if you are employed solely by the State Government. HWSP funding can be used towards professional development such as short courses, workshops, online training and conferences; Postgraduate studies; Training related expenses such as travel and accommodation.

Where can I park?

Abbey Beach Resort offers ample free parking for event guests, with over 500 on-site spaces available. No accommodation booking is required to use event parking.  Guests staying in 2-bedroom, 3-bedroom, and beachfront apartments have designated parking spots for convenient access to their accommodations. ​
