Frequently Asked Questions

What happens next?

One of the team will download your application shortly, and submit to the Rural Rapid Response Squad clinical team at WA Country Health Service for review.

WA Country Health Service will advise your acceptance into the Squad within five working days of receiving your application.

Some applications may not meet the requirements of working at the frontline in WA Country Health Service facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic. We will provide further information on how you can meet these requirements or suggest alternative ways of helping support your rural colleagues and communities over coming months.

When will I be offered an assignment?

The responses you have provided in your application will be assessed against the skill and experience requirements, urgency and location of assignments as they arise.

A representative of WA Country Health Service will contact you via the phone number you have provided to offer assignments which closely match the information you have provided.

I want to help, but don’t meet the eligibility criteria

There may be alternative opportunities for you to provide support to your rural colleagues and rural communities. Please complete the application form and we will review your skills and experience against other opportunities.

Will there be appropriate PPE supplied?

Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment is available and safe practices are in place at all WA Country Health Service sites.

Can my family travel with me?

The Government of Western Australia has implemented new restrictions on intrastate travel to limit the spread of COVID-19 between regional areas. Under these restrictions, people are restricted from moving between one region and another.

There are a number of exemptions and exceptions, including people performing Essential Services, such as people providing health and medical services. Family members of people performing Essential Services are NOT exempt from these restrictions and it is unlikely they will be able to travel to another region with you.

Will you accept medical practitioners who may be at higher risk if they contract COVID-19?

Certain groups of people are considered to be at higher risk if they contract COVID-19. This includes:

·       People aged over 65 years

·       Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged over 50

·       People with weakened immune systems or those with diagnosed chronic medical conditions, such as diabetes, COPD or cardiovascular disease

If you fall into one of these categories you will not be excluded from consideration for the Rural Rapid Response Squad; however you may wish to consider alternative means of supporting your rural colleagues and communities, such as performing GP locum assignments or providing Telehealth services.

We encourage you to complete the application form and we will review your skills and experience against other opportunities.

I have already completed an application form, but some of my information has changed. How do I update it?
